CSUSB recognizes that parents and families play an important role in their student's success in college. 

New Student Orientation and Family Programs Office offers a one-day orientation program for parents and family members in conjunction with your first-year students' two-day overnight orientation session. The Parent and Family orientation session is on Day 1 of the student 2-day program. Parent and Family Orientation is highly recommended, it is not required. However, students must attend an orientation session to register for fall classes. Parents and Families DO NOT stay overnight with their student. 

Despite taking place simultaneously, First Year Student Orientation and Parent and Family Orientation are two distinct programs. Our orientation presentations are explicitly created with families and parents in mind, some presentations may overlap with the student program.

Due to limited space restrictions, we can only offer space for four (4) parents and family members per student to attend. If additional guests need to attend, please contact the New Student Orientation and Family Programs Office at (909) 735-5233.

Parent & Family Orientation is only offered to families of first-year freshmen students in June. There are only 6 Parent and Family Orientation sessions between June 4th and 30th.  Please make sure to select the same orientation date as your student during the registration process. 

The Parent and Family Orientation fee is $40 per registered parent or family member. This is NOT a payment for your student’s orientation fee here. Your student’s orientation fee will be charged to their student account for their first term. Please make sure your student has registered for their orientation session BEFORE you register and pay for Parent and Family Orientation. 

When registering for Parent and Family Orientation, please make sure to have your student’s ID number, coyote email address, and orientation date available. Once your payment is processed, please save a copy (printed or electronic) and bring it with you to check in. Parent and Family Orientation check-in location will be at the Santos Manuel Student Union South Event Center.
